A. Log Data & Technical Telemetry

Like most web utilities, our web servers automatically log standard network connection metadata when you access our service. This may include:

B. Media Processing & No-Retention Guarantee

When you enter a public social media URL into our extraction engine:

  • The server temporarily queries public API endpoints to identify available streams (e.g. 1080p MP4, MP3 audio).
  • Any transient stream merging performed by FFmpeg operates in temporary, isolated temporary files that are automatically deleted immediately after transfer via streaming background tasks.
  • We do NOT maintain a permanent archive, database of user download histories, or library of fetched content.

C. Browser Storage & Client-Configured Access Settings

SocialSnap is designed under strict data minimization principles:

  • Functional Browser Storage: We use browser localStorage solely to remember UI display preferences (such as dark mode or filter preferences). No profiling or cross-site tracking cookies are set by SocialSnap.
  • Client-Configured Access Settings (Optional): SocialSnap does not require user accounts or passwords. If a user optionally supplies session configuration data or proxy settings via the Media Access Settings modal for their own authorized media retrieval, such configurations are processed locally on the server instance, never sold or shared with third parties, and can be completely wiped at any time using the in-app Reset Settings tool.
  • No Tracking: We do not track users across third-party websites or build behavioral profiles.

4. General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliance

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA), you have specific data protection rights under Regulation (EU) 2016/679:

  • The right to access, update, or delete the information we have on you;
